She Went in for Ivory Soap and Came Out Carrying Hope

The pictures came through on my phone, and the tears fell faster than my thumbs could scroll.

They did not come from a corporate sponsor or a large grant. They came from a faithful supporter who has stood with Created 2 Serve since Day One.

Before the growth. Before the partnerships. Before the community knew our name. She was there when Created 2 Serve began with a text message, six people, school supplies, and a desire to help.

What makes this moment even more meaningful is that she did not go to the store for backpacks. She went in for Ivory Soap. That was it. A quick stop for one simple item. But somewhere between the soap aisle and the checkout line, generosity interrupted her plans. She filled her cart with backpacks for children she may never meet.

She went in for soap and came out planting a seed whose impact she may never fully know.

As I looked at those pictures, I saw more than backpacks. I saw ten years of God’s faithfulness. I remembered every prayer prayed over this organization and every time we wondered how a need would be met, only to watch God provide through the generosity of others.

When Abraham needed provision, God had already placed a ram in the bush. Throughout the years, Created 2 Serve has been blessed with many “rams,” supporters who give, pray, share, purchase registry items, and show up when help is needed.

Ten years later, the donations and registry items are still coming in.

To every person who has supported Created 2 Serve, thank you. Your generosity has helped us continue carrying hope to children and families.

You may see a backpack. A child may see confidence. A parent may see relief. I see the faithfulness of God. Sometimes hope does not arrive with fanfare. Sometimes it arrives in a shopping cart, carried by someone who only went to the store for Ivory Soap.
